EcoPlanet began with a practical idea: develop products around the professionals who use them and the people they care for.

We envisioned independent spas, salons and skincare clinics as regular points of product use, where appropriate application, direct customer feedback and repeat consumption could guide product development. This creates a close connection between our research and everyday professional practice.

For our partners, the approach supports treatment consistency, planned replenishment and stock suited to actual requirements. For us, it helps align production with demand, improve formulations through feedback and reduce unnecessary inventory and waste.

Original Research, Practical Formulations

Our range of approximately 300 formulations has been conceived and developed through our own research and development.

Drawing on natural ingredients, cosmetic formulation, sensory evaluation and olfaction science—the study of smell—we consider how a product performs in professional use and how its aroma and texture contribute to the experience.

The range includes massage oils, creams, gels, balms, scrubs, body wraps, diffuser oils, soak salts, herbal massage potlis and products that complement reflexology and foot-care treatments.

From cooling gels and comforting clove balms to herbal massage potlis, our products support treatments designed around everyday comfort, including the needs of working professionals and travellers. Practical formulation also helps therapists apply products efficiently and integrate them into their treatment routines.

Clean Labels and Responsible Production

Essential oils, herbs, botanical extracts and plant oils are central to our formulation approach. We select ingredients for a clear purpose, considering their suitability for the intended application.

For us, clean label means thoughtful ingredient selection and clear product information, with proper attention to preservation, stability and compatibility.

Most products are prepared to order in controlled small batches and supplied in professional pack sizes. Formulation development remains in-house, with manufacturing carried out under our loan-licence arrangement at a licensed third-party facility.

We are committed to ethical production and continuous improvement towards greater sustainability. Demand-led production, appropriate pack sizes and recyclable jars and bottles help us use resources more thoughtfully. Actual recycling depends on suitable local collection and processing facilities.

Sharing Knowledge and Supporting Careers

Through our School of Aromatherapy Science and Technology, we trained hundreds of professionals and provided career guidance in aromatherapy, beauty and wellness.

Our teaching connected the science of essential oils with practical professional application, helping learners explore employment, independent practice and entrepreneurship.

The training centre closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its educational purpose continues to inform how we explain our products and support professional customers.

The Founder and the Research Philosophy

EcoPlanet® was founded by Bimal Das, a food technologist trained at CSIR–CFTRI, Mysuru, with postgraduate studies in Sustainable Engineering & Smart Cities at IISc Bengaluru and 35 years of research experience.

His work spans analytical science, natural ingredients, essential oils, product development, environmental consulting and regenerative agriculture. He leads EcoPlanet’s formulation research, bringing scientific understanding and practical observation into products for professional use.

His work at EcoPlanetFarm, a regenerative farm and ecological observatory in Raigad, Maharashtra, also informs his understanding of plants, natural aromas, biodiversity and responsible resource use.
